Corporate Fitness Challenge Ideas 2022.

Healthy competition in the workplace through a fitness challenge is a great way to get your team engaged in a fun lighthearted way. They can help employees achieve their fitness goals and create healthy habits along the way!

Most employees spend nearly all day at work, 5 days a week, which may cause difficulties in maintaining or building wellness habits to stay fit and healthy. So if you’re looking to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst your employees why not spice things up with a Corporate Fitness Challenge? Here are a few ideas:

Walk To Work

This low impact activity is great for beginners and a fantastic way to gradually increase daily steps. Everyone at the office can take part and achieve the daily miles needed to get to the finish line by choosing to walk to work, if that is too far to start with, people can opt to park the car (if driving) further than usual and walk the remaining distance to the office, or if usually commuting with public transport, get off the bus/underground at the previous station and walk the rest to work. First one to cross the finish line can get a day-off work!

This is one of the simplest and most approachable corporate fitness challenges to do. You and your colleagues can challenge each other to walk more while venturing through Tour Du Mont Blanc Virtual Challenge, a 170km route around Mont Blanc, covering 3 countries of France, Switzerland, and Italy, taking in the breathtaking scenery from Chamonix and other unique and amazing places. A unique experience where each participant will log their mileage-based activity and advance along the innovative interactive map. Other available walking challenges can be found here.

Cycle To Work

A slightly more challenging activity that is not just an excellent workout but also a sustainable and environmentally friendly means of transport, employees can choose to ditch the car or public transport for the length of the challenge and cycle to and back from work; a great way to incorporate cycling into everyday life and reduce the carbon footprint at the same time.

Cycling will not only improve cardio, coordination and boost the energy of everyone taking part, it will also save time (no commuting) and money. You can use a point-based system to compensate the winner/s, whoever cycles every day to work for 30 straight days gets a new bike helmet.

Anything between 8 to 15 kms a day is a good distance to start and we have a range of cycling challenges available from a short(ish) 360 miles Irish route to a whooping 2278 mile long ride crossing the US from East to West through the famous Route 66.

However, if you and your colleagues want to feel like Chris Froome on your way to work, La Boucle De France takes on the first route ever taken in the Tour De France cycling event of 1903. Other available Cycling Challenges can be found here.

Take The Stairs Not The Lift

In today’s fast paced world, many people do not participate in regular physical activities because they find they are “busy” but what if they can incorporate a moderate intensity physical activity into their everyday routine?

Challenge your employees to take the stairs instead of the lift. Walking up and down stairs burns more calories than walking on a flat surface at a moderate pace. An intense stair-climbing exercise session has more aerobic benefits in a shorter amount of time than running or walking.

And as a bonus, climbing stairs is usually faster than the lift. To make the challenge more interesting, you and your colleagues can virtually climb Mount Everest and see who can summit the top first!

Whichever challenge you choose, keep in mind that Corporate Challenges should be set up to encourage your workforce to be active and make it possible for as many people to succeed as possible. The key is to promote a healthy competition for a healthier lifestyle.
